Richard has extensive experience in leading Health, Safety, Security and Environmental improvements, from writing safe working procedures on the shop floor through to setting and delivering strategy at executive director level.
He has worked closely with the Health and Safety Executive, Environment Agency, Fire and Rescue Service, Public Health and Counter Terrorism Police to ensure that premises, people and operations on and off site are managed appropriately.
Richard has established strong cultural leadership, putting Health and Safety as a number one priority by working with unions, workforce collectives, business owners, shareholders and team members at every level within an organisation.
He has also led the drive for excellence in the management of Quality Assurance teams, storage facilities, including inland and port side storage, administration functions and laboratory testing facilities.
The risk assessment based review can also be undertaken for all product storage including food and feed hygiene management.
For example, Richard has converted buildings and built new facilities to operate numerous sites at lower and upper tier COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazards) standards across the UK.
Richard’s down to earth, practical approach, together with his extensive knowledge of the agricultural industry and associated health and safety issues resulted in many positive responses from insurers, both in terms of risk management and the outcome of liability claims.
